A
30-year-old woman allegedly attempted to commit suicide by jumping in
front of a metro train at Janakpuri West Metro station here on Monday.
According to the police, the incident took place at around 1 pm at
Janakpuri East Metro station when the train was heading towards Noida City Centre Metro station from Dwarka.
The
condition of the woman, whose identity is yet to be ascertained, is
said to be critical. The woman has reportedly lost her two legs.
"The woman was rushed to Deen Dayal Upadhyay (DDU) Hospital where
her condition is serious. The reason behind her suicide attempt is yet
to be ascertained," said a police official.
"The driver of the train applied emergency brake as soon as he saw her jumping on the track," the police officer said.
"As the incident took place in non-peak hours, trains were running
at ten-minute frequency. The services didn't suffer to a great extent.
The woman was shifted to the hospital soon after the incident," a metro
official said.
